Saudi Aramco has introduced 98-octane gasoline at SR2.88 per liter, expanding consumer fuel choices and diversifying the company’s product portfolio, according to Saudi Gazette.
The step marks a significant milestone toward broadening consumer fuel choices and diversifying the company’s portfolio, while ensuring existing products remain unaffected.
In the first phase, Saudi Aramco will introduce the 98‑octane fuel in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Dammam metropolitan area, expanding distribution along connecting highways.
The company picked up these locations because most high‑performance vehicles requiring this fuel are concentrated there.
Crucially, Aramco noted that an evaluation process for expanding availability will be carried out after reviewing demand levels.
The use of 98-octane gasoline is limited, designed basically for high-performance vehicles that account for less than 0.5% of the Kingdom’s total fleet.
Saudi Aramco underscored that its new 98‑octane fuel meets the demands of sports car drivers and high‑performance engines requiring a higher rating.
Meanwhile, the fuel offers no added benefit or advantage for cars with economical, medium-compression engines.
The rollout of 98‑octane gasoline will not affect the availability of 91‑octane and 95‑octane fuels, with all products continuing to meet the company’s high quality standards.
