MANILA, Philippines — Gasoline will see another price hike on Tuesday, August 19, capping five weeks of fluctuating adjustments, while diesel and kerosene prices head for a second straight rollback.

Oil firms will raise gasoline prices by P0.60 per liter, while diesel and kerosene will drop by P0.80 and P0.90 per liter, respectively. The adjustments reflect trading in the global oil market over the past week.

Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, PetroGazz and CleanFuel have announced the latest price adjustments in separate advisories on Monday, August 18.

The Department of Energy (DOE) stated that the rollbacks were driven by expectations of higher production from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) and its allies, as well as a weaker global demand outlook forecasted by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Oil prices were further weighed down by US President Donald Trump’s reversal during talks with Putin, shifting from seeking a ceasefire deal to a peace agreement with Ukraine.

Before the meeting, however, Trump had threatened more sanctions against Russia if it does not agree to a ceasefire. This was a factor that influenced oil market projections because of Russia’s large output.

Last week, oil firms implemented sharp price cuts, with gasoline down by P0.40 per liter, diesel by P1.50 and kerosene by P1.30.

Based on DOE monitoring, the prevailing retail prices of petroleum products in Metro Manila from August 5 to 11, before this week’s rollback, are:

Gasoline (RON97/100) – P68.18
Gasoline (RON95) – P58.80
Gasoline (RON91) – P55.30
Diesel – P56
Diesel Plus – P67.40
Kerosene – P74.90

The DOE has yet to release the latest prevailing pump prices in Metro Manila following last week’s rollback.

With this week’s mixed adjustments, gasoline now carries a net increase of P11.40 per liter. Diesel and kerosene have posted net increases of P11.95 and P1.75 per liter, respectively.
