Oil drilling rigs
Oil prices fell at close on Friday amid hopes that the conflict in the Middle East could come to an end, although crude posted its first weekly gain in three weeks.
Prices came under pressure after Oman said operations at Mina Al Fahal terminal were proceeding normally, denying a Reuters report that oil-loading activities had been suspended following an explosion near the mooring area.
Losses were capped by renewed geopolitical uncertainty after Hezbollah rejected a ceasefire proposal in Lebanon and Israel said it would not withdraw its forces.
Additional support came from comments by Iranian Supreme Leader adviser Mohsen Rezaei, who said talks with the US had reached a deadlock.
However, Rezaei ruled out a return to military confrontation, while warning that the conflict could widen if hostilities resume.
