Crude oil inventories rose by 200,000 barrels in the week ended on April 18, compared to the expectations for a rise by 600,000 barrels, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, gasoline inventories shed 4.5 million barrels for the same week, compared to an estimated decline of 1.6 million barrels. Distillate stocks—including diesel and heating oil—also decreased by 2.4 million barrels.
